Just finished lecturing about the vital importance of language and health in Belfast to some of the top Dermatology, Gastro and Rheumatology nurses.

Always interesting stuff – nurses usually have a very well developed sense of the mind body connection in action, having seen it so often, and know the value of a well judged conversation -but learning about the importance of the words you choose to use, and how they can trigger different healthy or unhealthy states, was a real eye opener for them.

So many great questions afterwards, like “we’re setting up a wellbeing service for those with inflammatory bowel disease, but we have to measure change using scales which will focus on illness rather than well being, to show it works….what do we do?”

I had a few ideas, but what do you think?
